American Meteorological Society Scholarships and Fellowships
The American Meteorological Society administers an array of graduate fellowships and undergraduate scholarships with the support of its members, corporations, and government agencies nationwide. The fellowships and scholarships help further the education of outstanding graduate and undergraduate students pursuing a career in the atmospheric and related oceanic or hydrologic sciences. Andrew Taylor Still Memorial Scholarship
The Andrew Taylor Still Memorial Scholarship provides a $500 stipend to select third and fourth year osteopathic medical students who utilize OMT in clinical practice. It is offered to those students who have completed, under the supervision of an Osteopathic Physician, a clinical rotation which included an emphasis on the use of OMT. The purpose of this scholarship is to encourage students to employ OMM as an integral component of patient care. Applicants may describe any clinical experience where they utilized OMT during the current academic year. Eight OMS-III or OMS-IV SOMA members will be awarded a $500 scholarship each. The Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellowship
The Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellowship is funded by the U.S. Department of State and administered by the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation. The fellowship award includes funding toward tuition, room, board, and mandatory fees during the senior year of college and during the first year of graduate study. Reimbursement for books and some travel may be paid. Fellows must commit to pursuing a graduate degree in international studies at one of the graduate schools participating in the program. Participating graduate schools provide financial support in the second year of graduate study based on need. The Christopher Columbus Awards are a class or group-based competition for students in science or social studies classes, or for cross-curricular use in team teaching or block-scheduled classes. 2010/2011 AMS Scholarships and Fellowships / Part II
The American Meteorological Society (AMS) Minority Scholarships help support the college educations of minority students traditionally underrepresented in the sciences, especially Hispanic, Native American, and Black/African American students, who intend to pursue careers in the atmospheric or related oceanic and hydrologic sciences. The two‑year scholarships, funded by industry and through donations made by members to the AMS 21st Century Campaign, are for $3000 for a nine-month period in the freshman year and an additional $3000 for a nine-month period in the sophomore year. American Welding Society – National Scholarships
The AWS Foundation has expanded its national scholarship program, which now includes the following individual scholarships each worth a minimum of $2,500 annually. These scholarships are for students pursuing a specific degree at an accredited four-year college or university.
